Caravella by Contango Wins NAJRYRC Gold

Caravella, by Contango, ridden by Megan Lane, won the Gold in the Junior Team test placing as the highest rider/ horse combination as well as winning the Silver and the Bronze medal in the Individual and Freestyle tests. Congratulations!  Read more...

Caravella, by Contango Wins Team Gold

The polished team from Eastern Canada secured Team Gold for the Junior division in Dressage at the 2009 Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Riders Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park. The winning ride of the day was delivered by Megan Lane, on her delightful mare Caravella, by Contango, with a 67.189%

Unika ISF by Contango in USEF Developing Horse Program

Unika, aka Jeffrey, and owner/trainer/rider Jennifer Wilson-Horr, of Springvale Maine, are currently ranked 7th in the USEF National Developing Horse Program. Ravel to Compete at 2009 FEI World Cup Dressage Finals

News Flash: Ravel and Steffen Peters won the GP at the World Cup Dressage FInals with a 77.91%. We'll post more in a separate news item.

Contango’s legend as a sire continues to grow. One of his brightest stars, Ravel, will represent the United States at the 2009 FEI World Cup Dressage Finals later this week in Las Vegas. Ravel placed 4th overall at the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong.

Ravel Takes 4th Place in Hong Kong

Steffen Peters and Akiko Yamazaki's Ravel [by Contango] danced their way through the Freestyle with music from Men Without Hats and the Rolling Stones. Their 76.500% in the Freestyle wasn't enough to edge out Heike Kemmer of Germany for the bronze medal.  Read more...

From Dressage Direct: After two weekends of competition, June 21-22 and June 27-29, the 2008 USEF National Grand Prix Championship /Olympic Games Selection Trials in San Juan Capistrano, CA, are complete and the top three rider/horse combinations in the nation and in the dressage selection rankings for the 2008 Olympic Games are Steffen Peters aboard Ravel, Debbie McDonald with Brentina, and Courtney King-Dye riding Harmony’s Mythilus.

Ravel and Steffen Peters Win at Del Mar CDI-W

Steffen Peters has made no secret of his intentions that Ravel [by Contango x Democraat] will be his candidate for the U.S. Olympic team for the Hong Kong Games. With the 10-year old Dutch warmblood gelding, he's on a roll winning all the CDI-W's in California. He won the CDI-W Grand Prix in Del Mar, scoring 71.75% on March 15th.  Read more...

KWPN Breeding Index Announced

The KWPN society announced today the breeding index of the KWPN licensed stallions. The leading Dutch warmblood stallion with offspring older than 10 competing successfully in dressage is Cocktail (by Purioso x Le Val Blanc xx). Cocktail is UB40's grandsire. Contango was named second.

Contango Offspring Winning Coast to Coast

It was a winning weekend of dressage from Florida to California for Contango offspring. Ravel and Montango, ridden by Steffen Peters won Grand Prix, Prix St. George and Int. I in Burbank.

Wencenza, Ster, ridden by Jodi Stevens Kelly and owned by Beth Godwin won 2 FEI Young Horse Test Yr. Olds at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby in Florida. [Wencenza also has a Sir Sinclair foal.]

New Tango owned and ridden by Tara Stegen also placed in the Grand Prix at the Palm Beach Derby.

2 Contango Sons in Top 10 at Pavo Cup

The Pavo Cup is the KWPN young dressage horse championship of Holland. 73 qualifying horses competed with the top 25 going on to the final competition in Ermelo.

Contango Leaves a Lasting Legacy

Iron Spring Farm's legendary KWPN stallion Contango passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2007. Retired from competition, the handsome dark bay stallion died peacefully in his pasture.  Read more...

Maestro, 2nd Contango Approved Son

The Grand Prix dressage stallion, Maestro has been approved by the KWPN in Holland after the short (5 day stallion test).

The 1994 stallion by Contango out of Carion ( Ster, Preferent, Prestatie) by Joost. His registered name is Montango and show name is Maestro. He was bred by J.A.G. Mors, and is ridden by Karen Nijvelt.

Contango Colt to be Exported

CONTANGO AWARDED PREFERENT PREDICATE

We are excited to announce Contango has been awarded the predicate, Preferent, by the KWPN. Contango is the 2nd stallion in history, standing outside of the Netherlands, to receive the highest predicate available to KWPN stallions. (Roemer, who also stood at ISF was the 1st.)

KWPN APPROVED: CITANGO by CONTANGO

The NA/WPN bred stallion Vitamorkus was approved by the KWPN after completing the 70-Day test. The stallion now carries the name Citango because he was previously approved by the NRPS where the name of the sire determines the name of the offspring.

Citango is the first NA/WPN bred stallion that has been approved in Holland by the KWPN. A unique accomplishment! Citango was bred by Loucky Hagens-Groosman from Purcellville, VA. He was in the NA/WPN Top Ten as a foal in 2002. After the keuring Koen and Marco Brinkman became half owners of the colt and then imported him to Holland.

Citango is a son of Contango and the well-known elite mare Ritamorka (Jazz x Zuidhorn). Citango earned the following scores at the test: Walk 8, Trot 8.5, Canter 8.5 and Dressage Talent 8

CONTANGO SONS WIN IN HOLLAND

Two sons of Contango, Showtime and Broere Maroon, won their classes at the Zwolle Stallion Show in Holland.

Showtime won the 6 Yr. Old FEI test and Broere Maroon was given the Best Stallion Award. Congratulations to the owners! Showtime is shown below.

Ravel Wins Del Mar CDI***

March 2010
Steffen Peters was ecstatic about his 77.66% scoring ride in the Del Mar CDI Grand Prix on Ravel, his 2008 Olympic mount. “I am happy not only that this is our personal best in the Grand Prix, but also that we did it at home. It is always more difficult to score your best at home.

WEG Bronze for Ravel and Steffen Peters!

Steffen Peters and Ravel won two Bronze metals at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Lexington.  This is the first time the USA has medalled in Dressage since the Games began.  Ravel is by Iron Spring Farm's Contango and owned by Akiko Yamazaki Four Winds Farm.  Congratulations on your thrilling performances!

ISF Stallions Represented at 2010 WEG

October 2010
We were very proud to have the offspring of four ISF stallions represented at the 2010 World Equestrian Games. Contango’s son, Ravel, Glendale’s, grandson Moorlands Totilas, and Roemer’s granddaughter Exquis Nadine, were each medalists in dressage, racking up a total of 4 Gold and 2 Bronze medals between them.

Whooper, by Sir Sinclair out of Kethling ster by Fruhling, was on the 4 In-Hand Driving team of IJsbrand Chardon from the Netherlands. Chardon won Individual Silver and the Netherlands won Team Gold.

Don Tango, KWPN Approved Stallion

A Contango son, Don Tango, was awarded the High Score Dressage stallion at the 2011 KWPN Spring Stallion Performance Test. The young stallion received 9s on rideability, temperament, self-carriage and balance during the testing.

Each year the KWPN (Royal Dutch Warmblood Studbook) collects and analyzes extensive performance and health data for each Approved stallion and their offspring, and produces a report—the KWPN Breeding Values. This invaluable information is an assessment of genetic ability and statistics with rankings provided for both dressage and jumpers, which can then be used by breeders to make informed decisions.
