Breeding Profile

Stallion Characteristics
Riverman is an honest, reliable stallion. He exemplifies a beautiful, modern type with an excellent friendly character, easy going temperament and willingness to work. All three of Riverman’s gaits have excellent reach. His walk is pure and his trot shows impulsion and power. The canter is especially nice with lots of power and balance.

Riverman is one of those rare stallions with all-around athletic ability. At his stallion test in Ermelo in 2001, he was the Champion of the test – placing 3rd in the dressage portion and 2nd in jumping – one of the few stallions to show such talent and then go on to compete successfully in both disciplines.

As a jumper Riverman has very good form, a great approach to the fences and good take off technique. His has a nice bascule and excellent hind end use, finishing the jump well. He is very careful and shows a good deal of scope. Riverman is now competing in dressage. He loves the work and makes changes look easy!

Additional Comments
Riverman is well suited for heavier mares needing a lighter stallion to produce more modern type offspring. He produces both jumpers and dressage horses depending on the mare. Mares that are dressage types with more vertical build and good movement tend to produce offspring that excel in dressage. When breeding to a mare built a little more horizontal and with strong jumping bloodlines, she will usually produce good moving offspring that are stand out jumpers.
Riverman’s offspring have his good character and work ethic and really try for their owners. They want to please. His get are smart, talented and athletic athletic--all attributes that make them enjoyable horses to train and ride. Riverman offspring tend to be bay with his expressive face and good build.
