Quina del Pico is a lovely 16hh 2020 Lusitano mare sired by the Olympic Grand Prix stallion Escorial and out of the mare Manzanita Pico, by Heros Do M Bello. Quina is harmonious in conformation with good mechanics in her movement and an active hind leg. Quina is approved by the APSL with a revision score of 74.25 and has a bright future in performance, breeding, or both.
The sire Escorial has been a highlight on the international Dressage scene for the Lusitano breed and represented Brazil at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics under João Victor Marcari Oliva. Escorial continues to compete successfully, winning both the CDI3* Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle in Jerez in 2022 with scores to 78+%. Escorial is a 4* Recommended Stallion with the APSL and has sired numerous offspring who are now competing in Dressage, including Nuelo Campline who represented Brazil at the 2022 and 2023 World Young Horse Championships. Escorial’s own sire, Spartacus, is a 5* Recommended Stallion and ranked at #76 on the 2023 WBFSH Sire Rankings for Dressage.
Through her damsire Heros Do M Bello, Quina del Pico traces back to the well-regarded stallion Peralta Pinha. Known as the first Lusitano stallion licensed for breeding in Germany, he captured the bronze medal at the 2007 Young Rider FEI World Championships and subsequently competed to the Grand Prix level. Noted for passing on an exemplary attitude and willingness to work, his offspring include the stallion Equador who was part of the Portuguese team at the 2022 FEI World Dressage Championships in Herning. Peralta Pinha was ranked at #87 for the 2022 WBFSH Sire Rankings for Dressage.
