Profile

Brend is a farm favorite with his sweet nature and willingness to learn. He has an excellent work ethic and has been successful in national dressage competitions in the Netherlands and the U.S.A. Among his victories, the 2008 GAIG/USDF Region 1 Third Level Adult Amateur Championship. Brend is the sire of numerous Star offspring who excel in dressage and driving.

Career in Sport

As a dressage horse, Brend is recognized for his expressive gaits and rideability, especially his powerful, balanced and uphill canter. His trot is elegant and supple, with good reach and suspension. He easily moved up the levels and won at the ZZ level at national shows in the Netherlands before being imported to the U.S. Among his successes was the GAIG/USDF Region 1 Third Level AA Championship.

Winning Offspring

Brend is Approved on Offspring. His sons and daughters have high quality, supple gaits suitable for both dressage and harness. Their correct conformation and beautiful black coats also turn heads at breed shows and keurings. In 2017, Vine fan de Stuken, Star, had eight wins at 1st Level with scores as high as 71%. Brend’s daughter Epona van Legendary won both Champion Filly and Champion Youth at her FHANA Keuring in 2017. Dante ISF was Reserve Champion Colt at his FHANA Keuring in 2017.

Brend is the sire of 59 Star offspring, 186 1st and 2nd Premies, seven offspring awarded the prestigious Sport predicate, as well as Crown and Model mares.

Brend is by the Star stallion Brandus 345 Sport, a son of Reitse 272. Brandus 345 was champion of the1997 and 1998 inspections and reserve champion in 1999 and 2003. In 1999, Brandus also received champion in Friesian Sjees (gig) and champion in the Honorary class. He competed through the ZZ level in dressage, and is the sire of four Approved Stallions. Brandus is known for producing beautiful horses with great movement and fabulous character. Brend has inherited these traits from his sire and is passing them along to his offspring.

Brend’s mother is the Star mare Meta van de Strubbenhof, from a very strong breeding mare line, Stam Line 34.

What to Expect When You Breed to Brend 413

Brend’s offspring have quality gaits paired with suppleness, balance and willingness to work. They have excellent character and learn easily. They are well rounded athletes suitable as riding horses and show driving. Brend throws jet black coats and good conformation. Brend produces a high percentage of Star offspring, and his sons and daughters are often winning at breed shows and keurings.
