Rampal is the epitome of the Iron Spring Farm breeding program. He possessed world-class bloodlines, had an incredible Grand Prix career and has sired international stars. All of which earned him the high honor of the Crown predicate from the KWPN. Rampal’s excellent character and rideability, coupled with incredible movement made him fun to ride and fun to watch. With the availability of frozen semen, he continues to pass these wonderful qualities on to his offspring.

Career in Sport

Rampal was an exceptional Grand Prix dressage horse. He had 14 wins at that level, including the Championship at the Royal Dressage Festival CDI and the USET Festival of Champions. Rampal was also short listed for the United States Equestrian Team.

Winning Offspring

Rampal is a noted sire of Grand Prix dressage and jumping horses. His son Ovation was a winning international show jumper who competed in Europe with Olympian Markus Fuchs. The pair won the Puissance class at Olympia in London, clearing 7’3”, and again in Rome jumping 6’8”. Rampal’s offspring have won multiple championships at breeds shows, including the Grand Championship at Dressage at Devon, as well numerous KWPN-NA annual awards. He’s also produced winning hunters, equitation horses and eventers.

Bloodlines Details

Rampal’s sire is the 1992 Horse of the Year, Ramiro Z. Ramiro was incredible international show jumper, with wins in Grand Prix, Nations Cups and Puissance. However, it’s his role as a breeding stallion that is one for the history books. Countless sons and daughters excelled at the top levels in showjumping and dressage, including Olympic Gold Medalist Royal Kaliber and the incredible Ratina Z. Ratina Z won World Cup Finals, the individual and team gold (twice) medals at the European Championships, the Grand Prix of Aachen, individual silver and two team gold Olympic medals, and team gold at the World Equestrian Games. Ramiro Z is also grandsire of Montender, Butterfly Flip and the dressage stallion Metall.

Rampal’s dam, Terika, was awarded the prestigious Prestatie predicate for producing three Grand Prix dressage offspring, including Miss Holland who had international success. The approved stallion Riant is also from this motherline.
