Profile

Sir Sinclair is one of the most prolific sires of FEI dressage horses worldwide. He was ranked #1 Dressage Sire by the USEF in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.  Sir Sinclair was awarded the Keur predicate by the KWPN for his excellence as a sire.

Among his offspring’s accomplishments: US Dressage Finals Grand Prix Championship, numerous USDF Horse of the Year and USDF All Breeds Horse of the Year Awards, GAIG/USDF Regional Championships, CDI3* Grand Prix Winner, KWPN-NA Top 5 North American Championships, World Equestrian Games (WEG) team gold and individual silver medal in combined driving, and so much more. In addition, Sir Sinclair won the Get of Sire class at the prestigious Dressage at Devon Breed Show a historic five times. Sir was also a successful dressage horse in his own right, collecting blue ribbons through Prix St. Georges and winning the Markel/USEF FEI Six-Year-Old Young Horse National Championship.

Career in Sport

Sir Sinclair’s athletic ability was obvious at an early age. He began his career as an impressive young athlete, placing in the Top Ten in the prestigious PAVO Cup before being imported to the United States. Sir competed in the FEI Young Horse divisions, claiming the Six-Year Old Championship and Five-Year-Old Reserve Markel/USEF Championship. He continued moving up the levels to Prix St. Georges and Developing Horse with scores as high as 72%. Sir successfully schooled and showed great talent for Grand Prix, but was unable to compete due to chronic lyme disease.

Winning Offspring

Sir Sinclair has sired numerous Grand Prix horses, including Zuperman, William, Air Marshal, Dee Clair, Warina, Westerstorm and Zania. He also has dozens of sons and daughters competing at the FEI level around the world. He is the sire of one Approved stallion and two licensed sons, as well as breed show champions, Star and Keur mares, and 28 KWPN-NA Top Award winners, including 13 Champions. What to Expect When You Breed to Sir Sinclair

Sir Sinclair is an exceptional sire. He stamps his offspring in type and movement. In general, his offspring are friendly, gentle and easy to train and work with. Sir’s sons and daughters are easy to start and fun to ride. He does not throw a lot of white. His offspring are bay, unless their dam is gray or pinto. In those cases, Sir has produced gray and pinto foals. He has never produced chestnut.

Offspring Characteristics

Rectangular type
· Beautiful, refined heads, very expressive
· Fairly refined and long lined with long legs
· Usually bay with little to no markings, except for occasional star, very little white on legs.
· Excellent head/neck connection, with a long poll and nice throatlatch
· Long, vertically set, well-muscled neck
· Good topline, with a good connection at the withers
· Nice, long sloping shoulder
· Strong muscling in the back
· Croup has good length, shape and muscling
· Heels of feet tend to be moderately high, which is good for soundness
· Nice, lean legs
· Lighter, modern type bone
· Good height
· Very long, elastic walk
· Powerful, elastic trot
· Canter with lots of reach and power

Ideal Pairing

Sir is ideal for large-boned mares who need a more modern type of stallion. With fine-boned mares, the result is more bone, but never heavy. Sir is a good stallion to breed to hot mares since the offspring tend to have his easygoing temperament.

He is not suited for mares with:
· Flat withers Weak back line
· Weak loin connection
· Croup that is too sloping or high at the withers
· Back at the knee Sickle hocks
· Long pasterns
· Narrow feet
· Toes out in the walk
