Iron Spring Farm is proud to offer frozen semen from Latino das Faias to the North American market. Latino is a stunning bay Lusitano by Escorial, a remarkable Grand Prix horse who competed at the Olympics and World Championships. A proven producer, Escorial has sired multiple Grand Prix horses, making his bloodlines highly sought after. Latino’s dam is also a top producer, with three Approved stallions to her credit, including one showing Prix St. Georges and one schooling Grand Prix. Here’s a closer look at Latino’s lineage.

Olympic Bloodlines
With his incredible international show record, Escorial made history as the first Lusitano stallion to be accepted into four German warmblood studbooks. He amassed 37 Grand Prix starts at the CDI3* level and above, with standout performances including:
- 71.065%, 1st place, Grand Prix, CDI4* Oldenburg, 2021
- 70.745%, 1st place, Grand Prix Special, CDI4* Oldenburg, 2021
- 74%, 1st place, Grand Prix, CDI3* Jerez de la Frontera, 2022
- 72.696, 1st place, Grand Prix, CDI3* Jerez de la Frontera, 2022
- 75.095%, 3rd place, Grand Prix Freestyle, CDI3* Jerez de la Frontera, 2022
- 70.419%, 26th, Grand Prix, Tokyo Olympics, 2021
- 72.112%, 26th, Grand Prix, World Championships, 2022
- 73.313%, 21st, Grand Prix Special, World Championships, 2022
Escorial is not only a dressage star, but also an influential sire, consistently passing on his talent to his offspring. His sons, Lord das Faias and Lord Plus, are winning at the CDI3* Grand Prix level in Europe, while his younger offspring Orion and Nuelo have both competed at the World Young Horse Championships. In 2023, Nuelo impressed with an 82.40% in the Six-Year-Old division.
Escorial’s pedigree is equally impressive, rich with Lusitano talent. He is sired by Spartacus, a 5* recommended stallion by the legendary Xaquiro, who earned gold medals in the model and gaits competitions.

Latino’s Dynamic Damline
Latino’s dam, Zaira, sired by Medidor, is a distinguished producer of performance Lusitanos. Including Latino, she has produced three Approved stallions, all sired by Escorial. Her son IRS won the Gold Medal and was named European Champion at the European Championships for Lusitano Horses in 2016, held in Germany. IRS is now competing at the Prix St. Georges level and has also earned 4* recommended breeding status for his conformation and movement.
Another son, Oriente das Faias, showed successfully in the FEI Four-Year-Old classes in Portugal and is now schooling Grand Prix with Ricardo Vinhas Reis.
Zaira’s daughter, Nordica das Faias, also by Escorial, won the Gold Medal at the International French Model and Gait Championship in 2024.
Adding further depth to her pedigree, Zaira is the granddaughter of Dito, a black Lusitano stallion known for siring six Approved sons.
With such an impressive pedigree, it’s no surprise that Latino das Faias possesses expressive gaits and a natural ability to sit. He competed successfully in the FEI Young Horse classes before being imported to the United States and is currently schooling the FEI movements.
His first foals are already showing his influence, inheriting his good looks, excellent conformation, and quality movement.
