The Iron Spring Farm stallions were well-represented at the FEI WBFSH Dressage World Breeding Championships for Young Horses earlier this month. Kaiman’s son Ohio finished sixth in the five-year-old division. He scored 86.40, receiving a 9.0 on his canter in the final test and an 8.8 on perspective.
Ohio’s rider Kirsten Brouwer wrote on Instagram, “Can’t be more proud!! 6th place [in] the World Championships with Ohio! What a superstar! He really tried to give me everything… What an experience for him… So happy!”
Ohio was Kaiman’s first foal. He’s shown great talent from the very beginning and was Licensed by the Oldenburg Verband in 2021. In 2022, Ohio completed the stallion performance test in Vechta, finishing with an 8.26 overall. The following year, he placed seventh in the Pavo Cup. Ohio is out of Laika ASD (Grand Galaxy Win x Fidertanz). He was bred by and is owned by Jan Peter Dalsem.

Sir Sinclair’s Grandson Red Viper Wins With a 93.80
Red Viper (Romanov x Zolena, Elite/Sport, by Sir Sinclair, Keur) was the winner of the Five-Year-Old division. He led from start to finish over the course of the championships and received an incredible 9.8 for perspective, a 9.7 for canter and a 9.4 for his trot. He is owned by Reesink Stallions who purchased the KWPN stallion from the Borculo National Elite Foal Auction in 2019. Eugene Reesink said at the time, “He originated from a fantastic dam. Zolena is a beautiful, quality mare that has proven her aptitude in sport.”

Zolena, Elite/Sport (Sir Sinclair, Keur x Marlena, Keur/Sport/Prestatie, by Cabochon, Keur) was also successful in the young horse divisions. In the 2008 Pavo Cup, Zolena was first in the semi-final with an 82.5 and finished fifth in the final. She was ridden by Annerein Kerbert, who was sixteen years old at the time.
Zolena also twice competed in the World Championships for Young Horses with Annerein, earning an 8.2 in the 2009 Five-Year-Old qualifying class and advancing to the final where she was 14th. She was also sixth in the Pavo Cup that year. In 2010, Zolena received an 8.04 in the qualifying class and advanced to the consolation final.
From an article on the Borculo Auction website, Marjo Kerbert said this about selecting Zolena in the foal auction as a future riding horse for her daughters: “We picked Zolena because of her character. We heard lots of positive stories about good characters of Sir Sinclair…. Zolena was a good mover and her pedigree appealed to us.”
Kerbert continued, “As a young horse, the mare already moved well and she was a joy to watch. And she appeared saddle-broken by nature. The trainer of our daughter just put a saddle on her back and got on. She behaved exemplary!” Not much later, the mare passed the two-week EPTM test with 82 points and then Annarein began riding her.
Zolena continued to the ZZ-Licht and Junior level with Annerein’s sister Christien Kerbert before being bred to Romanov and producing Red Viper.
Red Viper was bred by Coen Kerbert Sr. and was ridden by Bart Veeze. Read the full article about Red Viper’s purchase at auction here.
