The Uno Don Diego son Independent Little Me has been named to the Dutch team for the Young Horse World Championships, six-year-old division. The handsome chestnut stallion advanced through two rounds of the Dutch selection process that included team training and observation trials. The World Championships for Young Horses will be held in Ermelo, the Netherlands, August 1-4, 2019. Independent Little Me is out of the mare Wendela, by San Remo, and ridden by Dinja van Liere. The pair also won the last selection of the Subli Cup at the end of 2018.
Independent Little Me caught everyone’s attention at the 2016 KWPN Stallion Show, where he was named Champion Gelders Stallion. He is the second Uno Don Diego son with a major breed registry championship; ERA Dancing Hit was the Danish Licensing Champion in 2011.
Uno Don Diego offspring are also finding success in the show ring in North America. Killian TF is currently ranked fourth on the USEF 4-Year-Old qualification list for the final at the Festival of Champions. Killian TF is owned and ridden by Rebekah Mingari, and was bred by Kerrin Dunn. He’s out of the West Point mare, Eerste Zarma.
The Uno daughter Nikita was named Reserve Champion PA-Bred Horse and Reserve Champion PA-Bred Yearling Filly at the Swan Lake Horse Show earlier this month. Another Uno son, Mufasa Von Camelot, was the Reserve Champion Yearling Dressage Horse in the 2018 KWPN-NA Top Ten awards.
In addition to his success as a sire, Uno Don Diego was a winning dressage horse in both Europe and the United States. In 2009, he represented Denmark in the Six-Year-Old Final at the World Young Horse Championships in Verden, Germany. Before his importation, he competed at advanced level in dressage in Denmark. He continued his winning ways in the United States, earning blue ribbons at Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I with scores above 73% at prestigious shows like the Adequan Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida.
