Margot ISF – From the DAD Breed Show to Winning Dressage Horse

Margot ISF was something special from the very beginning and represents the best qualities of her successful parents, Sir Sinclair, Keur x Ballerina Ceroon, Sport/Elite, by Oscar.

As a foal, Margot was named First Premium at the 2017 KWPN-NA Keuring. In 2018, she won the Yearling Fillies class at Dressage at Devon (DAD) with an 81.450%. The following year at DAD, she won the Two-Year-Old Fillies class with an 81.250% and was Reserve Champion Filly. In 2020, Margot ISF was purchased by Jennifer Simpson. The pair are winning in dressage with scores to 75%.

Simpson keeps Margot ISF at her farm in Clover, South Carolina, which is also home to a herd of retired geldings, sheep, chickens, and Rocket, a donkey who is Margot’s best friend.

Simpson grew up around horses and evented as a teenager. “Dressage was nice,” said Simpson, “but I loved jumping and cross country at that point in my life.” Like many riders, Simpson took a hiatus from horses during college and beyond, before finding her way back to equestrian life in her forties. “I have been riding dressage for the past five years or so,” she said.

During the pandemic, Simpson was ready for a new dressage partner. “I was looking for a young horse with potential that I could start and train up through the levels. Deanna Corby, one of my trainers, found Margot and thought we’d make a great match. Once I met Margot, I knew she was the one.”

“Margot has been an absolute delight in all respects,” said Simpson. “She was incredibly easy to back and has been a willing and talented dressage partner.”

The mare made her dressage debut in 2021 with Eliza Romm in the irons. The pair won classes at Training Level with scores to 74.30%. “Margot seems to enjoy showing. She travels well and settles in nicely,” said Simpson.

The joy of working with Margot has kept Simpson enjoying the training process. “Margot’s combination of talent, disposition and work ethic has encouraged my participation in the sport and deepened my appreciation of dressage,” said Simpson.

In 2022, Simpson and Margot competed in Training and First Level with scores to 75%. They qualified for the GAIG/USDF Region 1 Championships in both divisions. “Last year was a year of firsts for Margot and I,” she said. “It was our first year of showing at recognized shows and our first year at the GAIG/USDF Regional Championships in Virginia. It was a fantastic experience! She was very willing and gave it her all.”

While Jennifer has her eye on the US Dressage Finals in Kentucky, her main goal is to “have a happy, harmonious partnership with Margot for many years to come.”
